Bug boy.

Gabriel loves bugs. Why does he have to love bugs when we live in a place where half of them are icky, nasty, biting bugs? Never mind, forget I asked.

My nephew Joel would take this opportunity to correct me and point out that most of the creatures Gabriel insists on playing with are not actually bugs. Joel has had an insect obsession since he was old enough to focus his eyes. The last time I saw him, he gave me quite the comprehensive lecture on the subject of bugs (I remember something about not all insects are bugs, although all bugs are insects).

To get back to Gabriel ... I discovered his bug affinity a couple of weeks ago when I moved the grill cover. The grill cover had been lying wadded up on the patio of course (what, you thought it would it be on the grill??) and a host of insects (bugs and otherwise) scrambled frantically to find a new hiding place.

Instead of freaking out at the sight of all the skittery creepy crawlies (like his Daddy does) Gabriel sat down right in the middle of all of them and proceeded to try to catch them all - yelling "Hey bug! Whatchoo doing bug? Where you goin' bug??" the entire time.

A few days later he cornered an earwig and proceeded to hold a rather one-sided conversation with it while it ran around frantically trying to find an escape from his merciless interest. He sort of squished it at one point and I commented to Howard that Gabriel sure seems to love bugs. Howard peered at the crippled earwig and suggested that, perhaps, this was not exactly love.

Corvette Man!

Michael, Gabriel and I headed off to Denton's "Antiques, Arts and Autos" show on the town square today. We enjoyed just putzing around looking at some very cool cars. It was your basic small town, free admission, free parking, no one's a stranger kind of time.

We did stop for some breakfast first. Gabriel is getting so grown up... drinking from a straw (for some reason that was something difficult for him to learn)

...and generally being his stinkin' cute self.
