The Great Haircut of 2005

I thought I'd back up a bit to one of the most important events in our recent family life: The Great Haircut of 2005.

You see, you have to understand that Michael has been fending off even suggestions of a trim for several years now.

Unlike some folks, we really didn't care how long or what color his hair was, as long as his grades kept coming up roses. Besides, he had really beautiful hair. My friends would look at pictures and sigh about my Rock Star.

Still, it wasn't always clean. Or always combed. And sometimes it looked like Wolf Boy, not Rock Star, had joined us at the dinner table. So, when he announced that he wanted it cut, I couldn't get him an appointment fast enough.

Yes, yes, it could certainly use a good trim! Lots of split ends! Let's clean it up. He just looked at me with the patience that only a teenager can muster and carefully explained that he wanted it C.U.T. as in O.F.F.

Oh.

Can you imagine the commotion this caused at the hair studio? I think he was the highlight of the week, possibly the month. Everyone in the place had a comment.

He looks younger. He looks older.

But everyone agreed, "He looks faaaab-ulous."

Night-Night.

Gabriel just loves to go "night night" in the evenings. This is, of course, after...

... taking a bath.
bath! bath!
go spash!
bubb-bulls!

... and putting on his "shammies."

If jammies are not anywhere to be seen after bathtime his little brow furrows and he peers about wondering "Oh! Where shammies? Where shammies?"

Michael gets stuck on bath duty a lot these days, but his reward is the warm fuzzies of having a loving toddler drift off to sleep in his arms.

Yah, life's just rough all over.
